Privacy at Optenic.
This policy explains what information Optenic handles, why we use it, and the choices available to you.
1. Scope
This Privacy Policy applies to the Optenic website, authenticated career platform, browser extension, integrations, and related services. It covers information you provide directly, information created while you use Optenic, and information Optenic accesses through integrations you choose to connect.
2. Information you provide to Optenic
Depending on how you use the service, you may provide account information, career profile information, resumes, work history, job-search preferences, application information, interview preparation content, support requests, and other information you choose to enter.
Optenic uses Stripe Checkout and Stripe's customer billing tools for subscription payment processing. Payment-card details are handled by Stripe rather than entered directly into Optenic.
3. Google and Gmail user data
Connecting Gmail is optional. When you choose to connect Gmail,
Optenic requests only the
https://www.googleapis.com/auth/gmail.readonly
permission. Optenic does not request permission to send, modify,
or delete your Gmail messages.
Optenic uses Gmail access only to identify and process supported job-alert emails for user-facing job-search features. The Gmail reader is limited to supported job-alert senders, applies message size and structure limits, ignores attachments, and processes only the content needed to identify and normalize job opportunities.
Gmail message content used for job-alert processing is handled transiently and is not retained by Optenic as a copy of your mailbox. Job opportunity records derived from supported alerts may be retained in your Optenic account so that Optenic can provide its job-search features.
OAuth credentials
Optenic stores the Gmail OAuth refresh credential only in encrypted form. The raw refresh token is not persisted. Production encryption uses Google Cloud Key Management Service, and the encrypted credential is bound to the applicable Optenic account and user. Short-lived Google access tokens are used when Gmail access is required.
Disconnecting Gmail
You can disconnect Gmail from your authenticated Optenic account. When you disconnect, Optenic revokes the Google OAuth authorization and removes the encrypted Gmail credential stored by Optenic. Disconnecting Gmail does not automatically delete job records that were previously created in your Optenic account from supported alerts.
Limited Use
Optenic's use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy , including the Limited Use requirements.
Optenic does not sell Google user data, use it for targeted or personalized advertising, provide it to data brokers or information resellers, use it to determine creditworthiness or lending eligibility, or use Google user data to train generalized artificial-intelligence or machine-learning models.
4. How Optenic uses information
Optenic uses information to provide and operate user-facing career features, maintain account and subscription functionality, secure and troubleshoot the service, respond to support requests, prevent abuse, and comply with applicable legal obligations.
Optenic may use career and job information you provide or create in the service to generate analyses, recommendations, application materials, interview preparation, and other career decision support requested through the product.
5. Service providers and sharing
Optenic may use service providers to operate infrastructure, authentication, security, transactional email, billing, and other functions necessary to provide the service. Information is shared with those providers only as needed for the services they perform for Optenic and subject to applicable contractual and security controls.
Optenic may also disclose information when required by law, to protect users or the service, or in connection with a corporate transaction where permitted by applicable law.
6. Security
Optenic uses technical and organizational safeguards designed to protect information, including authenticated account boundaries, encryption protections for sensitive credentials, restricted service identities, and controls intended to limit access to the information required for a feature.
No security method can guarantee absolute protection. You are also responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials and devices.
7. Retention and deletion
Optenic retains information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the service, maintain legitimate business and security records, resolve disputes, and satisfy applicable legal requirements.
Gmail message content used for supported job-alert processing is processed transiently rather than retained as mailbox content. The encrypted Gmail OAuth credential is retained while the Gmail connection remains active and is removed when the connection is successfully disconnected as described above.
Subscription cancellation does not delete your Optenic account or account data. Signed-in users may permanently delete their account using Delete Account from the account menu. Account deletion removes the Optenic account and account-owned career, job, application, and related data, disconnects Gmail if connected, and ends the associated Optenic billing relationship. Optenic may retain limited records when required for legal compliance, security, fraud prevention, dispute resolution, or transaction recordkeeping.
